International Conference on Kenaf and Allied Fibres (ICKAF 2013)
Natural fibre materials continue to grow in importance globally in a wide variety of industrial sectors, and not only because of reasons associated with sustainability. The primary reason is the technical benefits of these materials. The potential for new products and new applications based on existing and new materials is far from being exhausted.

Realising the importance, Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) will be organising the second International Conference on Kenaf and Allied Fibres (ICKAF 2013). ICKAF 2013 is scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur from 3-5 December 2013.
ICKAF 2013 seeks to bring together industry, government, and academia to discuss the latest developments in kenaf and allied fibres, from upstream agricultural-related topic to downstream fibre processing and product advancement, as well as the socio-economic impact of these commodities. Following the success of the first conference (ICKAF 2009), ICKAF 2013 will expand its scope by covering other fibres such as bamboo, sisal, abaca, coir, agricultural biomass etc., ascertains the evolution and significance of the natural fibre sector in the global economy, particularly the tropics.
